The 9th WARP Kolkata Dialogue of Scriptures in June – Forgiveness of Sins

Result of sin described in your scriptures

Persons who are committing sins again and again without repentance go to Hell.

Punishments / torture in all unthinkable, unbearable and undreamable are given in Hell.

According to sin / sins are punished in different degrees. They have rebirth again and again in lower family. They are destined to remain poor, suffer and have poor health.

Through repentance, doing good work, engaging in the service of humanity and creation of God, promoting peace and harmony, living by themselves in peace and harmony, self-purification, good work, love, lack of ego, modesty, not injuring any animals, animate and inanimate beings, using wealth/earning in service of humanity; simplicity, austerity in thoughts and action, forbearance, patience. The best way to resolve sin/ sins is surrender to God, love to Him spontaneously without asking for His gifts, pleasures, riches, glory, fame etc and to ask for His love.

“Fix the mind on me, be devoted to me, and bow down to me. Thus uniting yourself with me and setting me, as the Supreme goal and soul refuge, you shall certainly realise me (or come to me)”. Bhagavat Gita 9.34. God talks to Arjuna (human being).

He realizes that God exists in the creation by pervading everything. He is inside and outside all beings, animate and inanimate. He is very near residing in one’s heart and as well as far away.

One can then resolve oneself of past sins. Saint Valmiki was a dacoit. He had murdered many persons. He had surrendered to God – Lord Rama. He had written the famous scripture “Ramayana” in glory of Lord Rama. He had become a saint. Lord Rama freed him of all his sins.

O God! Free me from ego, all pride, vanity and self-assertion

Grant unto me a loving heart

Illuminate my soul, drench my soul in thy love

Bless me to open my mind and heart to Universal attribute

Kindle in me new fire of love

Grant that I express thy love in all my thoughts and actions

Grant me strength to engage in service of humanity and thy creation.
